Skimboard Designs from 1992
In the last semester of my senior year, my day shaped a skimboard for me out of a broken surfboard. I painted it on the driveway and he took it to Victoria Skimboard to have it glassed (so I could ride it). Tex liked my design enough to ask if I wanted a job airbrushing boards. I worked there for about eighteen months in '92 and '93.
I had no artistic restraint, no trainging, some terrible ideas, and no work ethic. I made some boards I'm still proud of. I made some boards I'm thoroughly embarrassed by. I made some boards that made Tex wonder why he hired me. And I made some boards that were pretty creative (even if only moderately successful). I did all this for $3.75 an hour.
